Spanish Olive Oil Prices in September 2026: What Bulk Buyers Should Know Before the New Harvest
Spanish origin prices remain close across the main grades as the 2026/27 harvest approaches. A buyer-focused reading of the 17 September market signal and the checks needed before treating a published average as a purchase price.
The 17 September price signal
Oleista reported an average Spanish extra virgin olive oil origin price of €3.41/kg on 17 September 2026, with an observed range of €3.308-€3.512/kg. Plataforma Tierra's origin-price dashboard showed virgin olive oil around €3.25/kg and lampante around €3.17/kg. These are market indicators, not executable supplier quotations.
The narrow gap between grades is commercially important. A buyer should not assume that moving from extra virgin to virgin or lampante will create the same saving after refining requirements, specification, packaging, inland transport and financing are included.
Why the headline price is not the delivered cost
Published origin prices normally refer to bulk product before the buyer's complete commercial requirements are applied. The final cost depends on the exact lot, acidity and peroxide targets, sensory profile, filtration, certification, volume, packaging format, loading point, payment terms, Incoterm and freight.
For packaged or private-label orders, the oil value is only one part of the quotation. Tins or bottles, closures, cartons, labels, palletisation, production runs and destination documentation can materially change the cost per litre.
What buyers should do before the new harvest
Confirm the required grade and specification first, then request a dated offer tied to a defined quantity, format, loading point and validity period. Ask for a recent Certificate of Analysis linked to the proposed batch or tank, and separate the product price from packaging and freight so competing quotations can be compared on the same basis.
The approaching harvest can change availability and seller behaviour before it changes published averages. Buyers with fixed delivery windows should compare current-stock offers with new-crop timing rather than waiting for a single headline price to determine the decision.
A practical RFQ checklist
State product grade, target chemistry, volume, bulk or packaged format, destination, Incoterm, required certificates, label language, delivery window and whether the order is a trial or recurring programme. Navarra Exports uses those inputs to obtain comparable Spanish supply and logistics options.
