Spanish Olive Oil Prices in October 2026: Early-Harvest Market Reset for Bulk Buyers
Spanish origin prices moved lower in early October after the stronger 2026/27 crop outlook. Current EVOO, Virgin and Lampante references, what is driving the reset, and how bulk buyers should compare offers.
Spanish origin prices have moved lower
On 13 October 2026, Oleista's Spanish origin-price tracker displayed a most recent average of €3.24/kg for Extra Virgin Olive Oil, €3.03/kg for Virgin and €2.95/kg for Lampante. Its ten-day comparison showed declines of 6.05% for EVOO, 4.88% for Virgin and 2.97% for Lampante.
These are market references at origin, not export quotations. A buyer's actual price still depends on grade, chemistry, sensory profile, quantity, loading point, packaging or bulk format, certification, Incoterm and payment terms.
POOLred confirms an active bulk market
POOLred's public Spanish market summary for the period ending 13 October showed 3,912 tonnes across the displayed categories at an overall average of €3,076.12 per tonne. POOLred marks the figures as provisional and calculates its indices from registered bulk transactions.
That matters because published reference prices are useful for direction, but a procurement decision should be based on a dated supplier offer for the exact specification and volume required.
The stronger crop outlook has changed buyer expectations
Spain's Ministry of Agriculture published a first 2026/27 production estimate of 1,602,596 tonnes, 23% above the previous campaign. The forecast materially improves the national supply outlook as the new marketing year begins.
The early-October fall in origin prices is consistent with a market adjusting to stronger supply expectations, but the crop forecast should not be treated as the only cause of the move. Physical availability, extraction yields, quality distribution, old-crop stocks, seller behaviour and buyer demand also affect prices.
A lower benchmark does not mean every EVOO will cost €3.24/kg
The market average includes oil with different origins, specifications and commercial conditions. A low-acidity EVOO, organic oil, single-variety requirement, specific sensory profile or oil with additional analytical testing may trade differently from the headline reference.
Likewise, EXW and DAP prices cannot be compared directly. Collection, inland haulage, export documentation, freight, insurance and destination costs must be separated before comparing landed cost.
What bulk buyers should do now
For buyers planning purchases during the opening phase of the 2026/27 campaign, the useful approach is to request comparable offers rather than wait for a single market number. Define grade, analytical specification, volume, format, loading or delivery window, certification, Incoterm and destination before comparing suppliers.
Where timing is flexible, compare available old-crop oil with new-crop loading windows. Where timing is fixed, confirm physical availability and batch-level documentation rather than assuming the national production forecast translates immediately into deliverable stock.
Buyer takeaway
Spanish origin prices are starting the new campaign below late-September levels, while the official crop forecast points to materially stronger supply. That improves the purchasing backdrop for international bulk buyers, but it does not remove the need to compare equivalent specifications and commercial terms.
Navarra Exports tracks Spanish supplier offers separately from public market references so buyers can distinguish a market signal from a transaction-ready quotation.
